From picket lines and union events to caf\u00e9s and concert\u00a0settings, George and Julius have been singing together since 1998. They\u00a0have released three CDs, 1999\u2019s \u201cYoung and Younger,\u201d \u201cMiles to Go Before\u00a0We Sleep\u201d (2000), and \u201cJust A Few Bad Apples\u201d (2003), and have produced\u00a0the \u201cHail to the Thief!\u201d CD compilations featuring folk artists singing\u00a0against the Bush regime.<\/p>\n<p>Audience members of all ages get a taste of labor history and the\u00a0stories behind some of our best-loved songs, and the duo enjoys laughing at the bosses as well as each other onstage. Mann and Margolin\u00a0are also songwriters, and their songs are strong commentaries on many\u00a0contemporary issues, from gun violence (\u201cToo Many Guns\u201d), the aging\u00a0process (\u201cDon\u2019t Let Age Get You Down\u201d), and the plight of the working\u00a0poor (\u201cWe Demand A Living Wage\u201d) to the hardships facing workers\u00a0(\u201cRespect Construction Workers\u201d and \u201cSomebody Robbed the Pension Plan\u201d).<\/p>\n<h2>Julius Margolin<\/h2>\n<p>A former merchant seaman, World War II veteran and film\u00a0electrician, Julius is labor editor for his union newsletter (IATSE\u00a0Local 52) and has been his union\u2019s delegate to the New York City Labor\u00a0Council since 1973. Born and raised in New York City, he was a member of\u00a0the Congress of Industrial Organizations and organized for the CIO\u00a0during the 1930s and 1940s. A member of the New York City Labor Chorus,\u00a0Margolin has been retired since 1982, but that hasn\u2019t kept him from\u00a0staying active in social movements for peace and justice. He is a\u00a0regular fixture on picket lines and at demonstrations whenever unions\u00a0and organizations call. Finally winding down at 93, Julius lives in\u00a0Manhattan and enjoys his reading, songwriting and adding to his\u00a0extensive book and video collection.<\/p>\n<h2>George Mann<\/h2>\n<p>A union organizer and activist for the past 15 years, George grew\u00a0up playing in rock and roll bands on Long Island and in New York City.\u00a0He has previously recorded four albums of his songs and performs for\u00a0many unions and organizations. In the fall of 1997, Julius recruited him\u00a0for the New York City Labor Chorus, and as the two got to know each\u00a0other better, the idea of working with Julius to bring labor and folk\u00a0music to the public was born. He is a producer of labor music and\u00a0released a new solo CD, \u201cInto the Fire,\u201d in 2008.<\/p>\n<h2>Hail to the Thief!
